2009 Breccia Red Blend

The first wine in the Stone Cutter Series, Breccia, is an Italian varietal blend of equal parts Sangiovese and Barbera. The word, breccia [brech-ee-uh} refers to a rock that was broken into angular fragments then fused together by the forces of nature, so the rock has sharp-edged chunks suspended in a different colored filling.

Tasting Notes
On the nose are characters of Bing cherries and raspberries, followed by hints of plum. On the palate are characters of plum, black currant and cherries. A light-bodied, no-nonsense, easy to drink wine.

Food Pairing Recommendation
Enjoy this medium-bodied red wine with light fare such as Caprese, thin crust Margherita pizza, tortellini soup, or rustic Italian style Minestrone soup.
