Dark red color. Aromas of red fruits accented with cocoa, sage and lavender. On the palate, cassis and plum are balanced with moderate oak flavors, which lead to a medium-long finish.
The most celebrated red wine vineyard in Washington, Red Willow lies in the remote northwestern corner of the Yakima Valley Appellation. Mt. Adams’ 12,000-foot peak and the Cascade foothills rise to the west. This 120 acre vineyard has been developed with sensitivity and a deep respect for soil and slope.
This wine is notable for the relatively large percentage of Petit Verdot blended into it. 2009 was such a warm and early season that the Petit Verdot ripened beautifully to contribute its delicate fruit and acidity to the wine.
Pair with red meats cooked over an open fire pit fueled by oak, mesquite, or hickory. It also pairs well with hard and medium-hard cheeses.
