Riesling
This premier offering from Columbia Winery’s Small Lot Series of wines is Director of Winemaking Kerry Norton’s expression of an Alsace‐style Riesling. The 2007 Small Lot Series Riesling was sourced exclusively from the higher elevations of primarily the Art DenHoed and Red Willow vineyards in Yakima Valley which are located on gradual southern slopes with moderately deep gravel and glacial silt. The vineyards have enough soil to support comparatively large, shady leaf canopies that protect the fruit from the hot summer temperatures. The higher‐elevation sloping sites ensure a cooler growing season and protection from frost which guarantees a late‐season harvest, both of which are crucial for this style of wine. Tasting Notes Light green straw in color with traditional flavors of lime, kiwi and hints of peach with some creamy notes along with bright acidity and balancing warmth. The slightly perceptible sweetness 1.3% R.S., along with balance between acidity and fruit, gives this Riesling backbone and body that pairs beautifully with a wide variety of meats and spicier cuisines.
